Donations to Little Bits

Little Bits welcomes donations of many kinds. By volunteering your time or expertise, sponsoring a horse or a rider, or simply by becoming a donor, you effectively make a difference in the lives of our participants - and the community.

We can't do it without you! Little Bits has some community partners and special corporate sponsors, but we still need your help. The cost of providing therapeutic riding to an individual is approximately $900 per term. Under the supervision of certified instructors, skilled equestrian staff and with the assistance of more than 200 volunteers, our children and adults reap great benefits from our programs. With your financial assistance and generous donations even more children and adults with disabilities can gain a better quality of life.

Donate a Horse

Whitemud Equine Centre Learning Association is always looking for sound, healthy, well-trained horses for the facility. WELCA is a not for profit association. The centre will consider a lease arrangement with you, where you retain ownership of the horse and they will take on the care and custody according to their lease agreement.

Purchase a Horse

The horses that are suitable for the Little Bits program are very special. They are calm, caring and very conscious of their precious cargo. They are put through a series of tests before they are accepted into the program. The approximate cost of purchasing a horse suitable for the program is $2,500. For your donation of $2,500 we will keep you informed during our search for the perfect horse and let you know when he/she has been found.

We will acknowledge your donation with a plaque on his/her paddock door. We will have your name embroidered on his/her blanket and a plaque affixed to his/her bridle. We will arrange a photo opportunity and include the photo and acknowledgment of your donation in our newsletter. We encourage you to come visit him or her any time during business hours!

Sponsor a Horse

Some of the horses in our program have been donated to or "lent" to Little Bits. We are very grateful to have these horses in our program. Our program currently runs 22 weeks per year and during this time, these special horses certainly earn their keep. During the off-season, the horses who are integral to the success of our program, must still be fed and cared for. The approximate cost to care and feed one horse is $1,500.

Sponsor a Rider

The current cost to riders is $405.00 for the 12-week session and $350.00 for the 10-week session, a total of $1090.00 (including membership fees and parent service hours). The actual cost is much higher; $2226.00. The yearly subsity provided by LBTRA is $1136.00, this is accomplisched  through fundraising efforts, grants and donations from generous individuals like you. A contribution of $1090.00 will cover membership fees, parent service hours and riding fees for one rider for one year.
Families with children with special needs often face additional financial hardship. Some families are unable to afford the cost. For this reason, we have established the Tuffy Fund.
