Mark your calendar! Please join us and be a supporter of the Second Annual Little Bits 'n Bites Breakfast Round-up taking place at 7:30am, March 17th, 2011 at Delta Centre Suite Hotel in downtown Edmonton. This fund raising breakfast marks our 36th Anniversary celebrations. We hope 2011 will be the year we build greater awareness of Little Bits Therapeutic Riding Association in the community. Our goal is to develop sustaining donors and sponsors in this generous City. We also hope to raise money to enhance our programs, purchase new specialized equipment and expand our program to a Satellite Facility. We have helped over 2500 children and adults with disabilities in the Edmonton area in our 36 year history.

Camp Horseshoe Improvements

Little Bits is looking to find a new group to take over our 'Camp Horseshoe' facility on the north shore of Joseph Lake, New Sarepta, as our organization no longer can operate it. The camp property consists of some 20 Acres (Alberta Lands lease - nominal rent - paid up to 2013) and building improvements of 6 cabins, recreation hall / kitchen, a trailer - office + additional 3 rooms, bathroom building - C/W flush toilets, baths, wheelchair accessible showers, laundry room, storage buildings, outdoor arena, 3 corrals, sports field area and newer asphalt paving to all cabins.

Improvements appraisal in 2002 was $202,000 (it will be lower now). We do not expect to recoup most of the improvements cost, however, we are anxious to find a like-minded organization that would be willing to assume the balance of our lease (due for renewal March 2013) and use the facility for children / youth camp activities. We would greatly appreciate it if you could convey this opportunity to your colleagues who may be involved with or know of an organization that might be interested in a camp facility.

Photo Fundraiser

This year we had a photo fundraiser, this fundraiser was only made possible by two very generous companies, Aaron Pedersen of 3TEN photography donated his time and expertise to take all the beautiful pictures and Mc Bain Camera donated all the prints and printing costs. Riders each paid $20 for a picture package, all the money collected will go directly towards the riding program, in total we raised $2300.00. The pictures turned out great and the riders loved them. We would like to say a big thank you to both of these companies for helping make this a very successful fundraiser.

Daisy Day at the Canadian Derby

On August 21st from 10:00 to 2:00 we will be attending Canadian Derby at Nothlands Park selling daisies to the public. This has been a great annual event for us for many years and we are very excited to take this opportunity and make this year more successful than ever for Little Bits. We are looking forward to this great day which will happen as a result of our many volunteers and parents helping us sell daisies.

UPDATE :: 50/50 Tickets for Oilers:

On February 3rd we will be at the Oilers vs. Flyers game selling the 50/50 tickets. This is our first year being chosen to be the ticket sellers and we are excited about this fantastic opportunity. Looking forward to a fun night with lots of great volunteers and parents helping us out to make this a successful fundraiser.

Update: The Oiler 50/50 night was an enormous success, all 30,000 tickets were sold out and we raised $14,137.26! Long time rider Michael Yaceyko was one of the many people who came out to help make this such a successful event.

This is a picture of him pulling the winning ticket!! A huge thank you to all the parents, volunteers and friends of Little Bits who came out to sell tickets and help in the count room, we could not have done it without you! Thank you to The Edmonton Oilers and Rexal Place for having us it was a great experience.
